Christ-Centered Fall Bucket List

A Gentle Guide to Abiding in Autumn

🍂 1. Go on a “Creation Walk” and Read Psalm 19

Bundle up and go outside as a family. Collect leaves, notice the changing trees, listen to the wind, and read Psalm 19:1-2:
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands…”

2. Light a Candle Every Evening and Pray Together

Start a simple fall tradition: as darkness falls earlier, light one candle at dinner or bedtime and invite God’s peace into your home.
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." – John 1:5

3. Bake Something from Scratch and Give It Away

Make apple muffins, pumpkin bread, or your grandma’s cinnamon rolls. Then deliver them with a handwritten prayer or verse to a neighbor or widow.
“Serve one another humbly in love.” – Galatians 5:13

4. Memorize a Verse as a Family

Pick one Scripture and speak it aloud at breakfast, bedtime, or during car rides. Suggestions:

  • Isaiah 26:3 – "You keep him in perfect peace..."

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:18 – "Give thanks in all circumstances..."

5. Create a “Thankful Tree”

Cut out paper leaves and write things you’re grateful for on them. Tape them to a wall or hang them on a branch. Watch it grow through the season.

6. Choose a Fall Devotional

Pick a gentle devotional to read each morning or evening — even if it's just one page.
Ideas:

  • "Gracelaced" by Ruth Chou Simons

  • Your own written reflections in a journal

  • One Psalm per week

7. Host a Simple Soup Night

Invite a friend or two over for a low-pressure meal. Set out bowls, light a candle, and offer warm hospitality — not Pinterest perfection.
"Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality." – Romans 12:13

8. Stitch or Craft with Intention

Try an embroidery or creative worship project with a fall word: “Dwell,” “Grateful,” “Harvest,” or “Faithful.” Play worship music and make it a prayerful practice.

9. Rest on One Full Sabbath Day

Set aside one full day (or even an afternoon) for intentional rest — no chores, no work, no striving. Just delight.
“In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength…” – Isaiah 3

10. Do One Thing to Help Someone in Need

Fill a food pantry box. Make blessing bags. Rake someone’s leaves. Teach your kids to notice others this season.
"Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth." – 1 John 3:18
